[Music] Open Goldberg Variations pres. J.S.Bach (BWV 988)
Today I found out about this nice project called "Open Goldberg Variations". Even though I don't now exactly what the idea behind it is, i think it's worth being postet. After all we get free music, that belongs to the public domain (which afaik means it is open for all kinds of playing, editing, remixing, ..). But you might wanna check what that means for yourself if you consider sampling it.
As you might have figured out by now it is about variations on classical music by the great Johann Sebastian Bach, BWV 988 (BachWerkeVerzeichniss), played by Kimiko Ishizaka.
On their homepage you'll find much more to discover like the open source musical score editor Musescore, which will be covered here in a seperate post, and which was used to produce the scores for the Open Goldberg Variations. All for free. Ain't that great ?!

[Music] Monokrak Netlabel
Some days ago Monokrak released its 118th record. As usual, the download is for free. A perfectly fine occasion to introduce this interesting netlabel:
Name: Monokrak
from: Geneva, Switzerland
since: 2006
by: Robert Vitali
Monokrak @ FACEBOOK
Press info:
MonoKraK records is now a netlabel oriented ambient and deep minimal techno. Founded in 2006 by Roberto Vitali and based in Geneva (Switzerland), the first goal was to be a quality vinyl label of electronic music. But faced with the difficulties of finding a distributor and manage an independent label, it was decided to transform the identity of MonoKraK. For those who are out of the music business, just because they are not a “good product”, there is another chance : netlabels. No more money in the affair, just music. The feeling to be free and to produce what or who you want is now a reality.

[Music] ELBIS - The Tinhat Opera
Watch out! My man Elbis' comin through with his new release, presented by KREKPEK and available via Bandcamp for free. "The Tinhat Opera" delivers 18 remixes of MF Doom Tracks, featuring MFs Voice over beats from rough to experimental. Good stuff. Real stuff. No fancy shit.

[Books] Richard Price - Lush Life
I mentioned Richard Price in this blog some time ago (here). Besides writing books, he also created the great TV Series "The Wire". But this post is about books. About "Lush Life", to be specific.
As I am tired of thinking about how to write a half-decent book review, I thought about a faster way to post the books I read and like. I always liked statistics, so I am just listing some aspects and give points for them. Like that:
Authenticity: 5/5
Style: 4/5
Humor: 3/5
Dialogues: 5/5
Story: 4/5
To finish the review up. I will post a picture of a double page I more or less randomly photographed out of the book. This gives you a good idea about the style, language and maybe more.
For me it was a cool read. I was kinda scared that it would be hard to read, but no problem at all. I think I learned a lot of new words by reading it. Overall 4/5.
